Five minute of Fame !!!!

Have you ever had FIVE minutes of FAME ????
Are you on social media, what`s the best way to keep up to date with everyday goings on?

From FaceBook to LinkedIn everyone has a favourite platform they turn to. I`m a big fan of FaceBook, Instagram and LinkedIn, but there are so many the mind just boggles. What`s your favourite?
During Lockdown I decided to think of something that I could do to keep myself busy and our presence visible, it`s a known fact that you can`t rely on "hope marketing" and unless you`re prepared to pay for it, you need to work hard at getting people to see and hear you.

So here`s what I decided to do
  • I started spreading the love of my favourite pastime FOOD. I love food, talking about it, eating it and above all cooking it, I have hundreds of recipes stashed in cupboards, drawers and bookmarked on my mobile phone. I can spend hours scouring the internet looking for more delicious and unusual recipes. So I turned to my mobile phone and made videos of my favourite recipes and shared them on social media. With FaceBook and YouTube being the best platforms to share too, I got thousands of people commenting and following waiting daily for my next favourite recipe. It was so delightful knowing not only was I keeping busy, I was entertaining people, maybe I looked daft and silly but it worked. I made over a hundred dishes over the months, you can find most of them on YouTube.
  • As the winter months came along, David and I started to explore our beautiful countryside here in Moffat, so again my mobile phone came along and I would go live on our walks, promoting our stunning surroundings we are so lucky to live in. As many people where in isolation and some living in big towns and cities they were unable to see the green fields, or in our case lot`s of snow, so we shared our daily walks and it was lovely. We would wrap up with coats, hats and scarfs and enjoy the great outdoors. With many people enjoying our adventures with us, even if it was virtual.

FaceBook groups are great, over the months I have met some amazing people and made some great friends, watching what other people are doing, getting hints and tips from experts makes this huge world of visibility some what a bit easier. One tip was to get your story published in the paper.

As we are originally from Wigan, in the Northwest. I contacted the Wigan Observer and told them about our lockdown life and how we are now open and ready for guests, many whom visit from our home town and the surrounding areas, within easy reach it`s a great place for a wee getaway and a relaxing break from your everyday life.

After a quick email I was contacted by Gaynor Clarke who was super excited to publish our story, letting people know we are OPEN and looking forward to welcoming guests from all over the country, especially Wigan and the Northwest, we do get visitors from all over England, Scotland and Wales. We miss our international visitors, they are lovers of Scotland and we have certainly made a few friends over the water too.

So our story was published and you can read it here in the Wigan Observer obviously I shared it in the best way possible SOCIAL MEDIA

Then a few days later I was contacted by GB News who had seen my post in the paper and asked would I like to appear on the news "OMG" me on live TV, how could I refuse. So after a nervous nights sleep I appeared on the Brazier and Muroki breakfast show, there was my five minutes of fame, on national TV, live. I couldn`t believe it.

But it works, hard work and social media are the best thing for your business and it`s certainly paying off now, after taking over the business 4 and half years ago I`ve grown our business from strength to strength and now I can say I`m very happy with the result.

I`m not everyone`s cup of tea and some people may laugh, some people love me but what I have achieved I AM PROUD, we love it and we love welcoming guests through our beautiful RED DOOR week in week out.

We look forward to welcoming you soon. Don`t forget to BOOK DIRECT !!!!!!!!
