Other beaches include Carsethorn, Sandyhills, Rockcliffe and Powfoot.

  • Pan for Gold - Wanlockhead, the highest village in Scotland and also home to the lead mining museum, find out how men worked down the shaft at Lochnell Mine, mining for lead. For years men and women have searched for gold, one of the world`s most precious metals, and it`s no different here in South West Scotland, gold can be found in the sands and gravel in the burns at Leadhills and Wanlockhead, end your day at the tearoom and gift shop.
  • Head for heights - travel down to New Abbey and take a hike up to the top of Waterloo Monument an impressive 150ft tower built in 1810 and is nestled in this beautiful village, but be aware the top of the tower is pretty hair raising, there are no barriers but the views are extensive and certainly breathtaking, on the way back don`t forget to take a stroll around Sweetheart Abbey.
